The guest lecture that impacted me the most was Rebecca Harris’s lecture on entrepreneurship. Rebecca Harris is the Executive Director for the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship at Chatham University. Follow the money – find a need 2. You must have passion for what you’re creating 3. The business event I attended was Fall in Love with Marketing with guest speaker Andrew Garberson. Andrew is the Director of Digital Marketing Strategy for LunaMetrics and an adjunct professor for digital marketing at Chatham University. The event was kicked off by Andrew’s presentation about analyzing data in today’s data-saturated world. It was a great networking opportunity to meet alumni and professionals within the business and marketing field. https://www.linkedin.com/in/garberson/ First, Andrew talked about how the the amount of data that exists in the world today is extremely large compared to ten or twenty years ago. The large amount of data has changed marketing strategies. For instance, people used to measure success by the number of hits or views a website got, but now success is measured by the website’s performance: what users thought when using the website, and the quality of their experience. Personal Business Plan Mission Statement To connect people to a place or a memory through the senses. Business Environment -            What industry will you be competing in? - I will be competing in the arts/photography industry. I plan to take photographs, make prints of them, then accessorize them with scents, frames, and decorations that are specific to each individual photograph. -            How does the industry look like in the global environment? - It’s easy to enter, because anyone with a device that can take photos (phones, tablets, cameras) could potentially start the same business. Many people all over the world sell prints. They only need a photo-capturing device, printing supplies, and a means to open an online store.
